Woven Binding Workshop

Group members got together once again to explore a woven bookbinding.  This is not featured in many books on  binding but was shown to us by Carolyn Sullivan at a previous workshop.  The sections of the book are first bound separately using a pamphlet binding.  The sections are then linked together by weaving through the threads of the pamphlet biding stitch.  It leaves lots of room for attractive weaving and the addition of beads to the stitching threads completes the book.

As there was workshop time left we then explored some aspects of the pamphlet binding, including a simple section, two sections and a dos a dos binding.  All of these can easily be used in fabric books.
