Sharon Boggon Workshop

Sharon brought with her some beautiful samples and heaps of practical design strategies and ideas.  The workshop consisted of one whole day of design and the following day of stitching.  Sharon guided us skillfully through design concepts with lots of examples and masses of stitched samplers.  She brought her mammoth roll sampler with her which we stretched out on the table and spent ages exploring and admiring.  In addition she brought many smaller samplers which she used extensively to illustrate her ideas.

 Sharon's Amazing Sampler

Under Sharon's guidance we planned our pieces and in the morning of the second day started the stitching.

Outlining the motif -Kerry

Once the motif was outlined the detailed areas could be filled in.  Any stitches which give texture and  pattern, as well as beads and sequins, are suitable. Sharon showed us some of her favourites, including drizzle stitch and cast on stitch as well as some alternatives of some more familiar stitches.

Pots - Mary

Two weeks later and this piece is almost finished.
