The Tweed Valley Embroiderers group will be displaying some of their work in the Tweed Library from the beginning of July. Some of the pieces displayed are the results from our annual Challenge. Come and see what can be done by embroiderers with a package of selected materials, including wallpaper, tissue paper, nappy liners and more. Here is an example of the creative work of some of our members.
Gywn has used the materials to make these beautiful flowers
Kerry's miniature screen is inspired by her recent trip to India
Dianne's abstract incorporates each material but skillfully maintains an embroidered look.
In addition to these works of art we will show some of the books recently made at one of our bookbinding workshops. As well as painting and printing paper for the covers, the individual pages were decorated, and sewn together using a modern decorative coptic style binding.
