Let's Do Some Catch Up....

It has been some time since I have posted, but our group has continued to be busy with stitching. 2018 is the 50th Anniversary of the Embroiderers Guild Queensland and as members we have been stitching in preparation for the celebrations.

The Guild has asked each member to stitch a 4 x 4 inch square for inclusion in a celebration banner.

here are some of our contributions....

Activities for this year have also included our usual Group Challenge.

Group members were given a design exercise and asked to produce a piece of stitching using the exercise.

Some of the finished pieces......

And our Birthday Gift Exchange was a tassel....

We also had a felting day recently with our members trying out Nuno felting.. most of us doing some sample pieces to get an idea of the technique.

The group has also explored Deerfield style blue and white embroidery and have been working on a project for the Queensland Guild celebration next year.  I will have more to say on this a bit later on.

Tuesday 5th December will be our last meeting for 2017 and this will include a bring and share lunch and a Christmas Stitch Activity.

The first meeting for 2018 will be Tuesday 5th February 9:30am DST at the Community Room Tweed City Shopping Centre.

Schwalm Embroidery.

In October 2015 members participated in a class in Schwalm embroidery
with tutor Deborah Love. Deborah's design for the class is a group of flowers
that gives a range of stitches to be mastered.

Some finished pieces from the class -

Robby taught us some 3D Felting yesterday at our meeting.
Though we thought it would be difficult but it wasn't and we all had fun with this.

We laid out our wool.

And rolled and rolled.

And shocked! In other word threw it down hard as we could - lots of times.

Below are the results of our efforts.

    By Kate.

   By Jill.

   By Sharon.

   By Dian.

    By Kerry.

   By Judy.

   By Gwyn.
